This paper’s structure is intended to allow the reader to navigate through an argument, making decisions on the order in which to read or, indeed, how much to read, and takes its inspiration from George Landow's use of hypertext which he claims encourages, through its non-linearity, the way in which connections must be made in the research world, and from Anders Fagerjord's use of stretchtext which, I maintain, encourages students to consider their reading strategies (Landow, 2006).   This essay is constructed so that, for instance, a reader interested in an outline of the argument may opt to read only the introduction and conclusion while another might wish to only explore one section relevant to their own research. The reader might access pages through the menu above or from links within pages.
